News – Hague Ratification – 1st November, 2010:
The Government of Ireland passed new Adoption Legislation on July 2nd, 2010, which will allow Ireland to complete ratification of the Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Cooperation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, on the 1st November 2010.
The new legislation will mean that Irish applicants, who are approved for intercountry adoption after the 1st November, will only be able to adopt children from a Hague Convention country, or one with which Ireland has a Bilateral Agreement on intercountry adoption.
Arc Adoption:
Arc Adoption is being established in order to provide crucial support as children in need are adopted by Irish applicants under the new system. Arc will establish world class services and the infrastructure required and recommended by the Convention.
Arc Adoption has already been approved in principle by the Adoption Board of Ireland, and looks forward to completing our accreditation once the Adoption Authority of Ireland is established, on the 1st November next.
(The revised date for Irish ratification means the official launch of Arc services has had to be adjusted. We hope to set a new date shortly).
Our aim is simple. We are focused on meeting the best interests of each and every child.
We hope that every child can grow up in a safe, secure, loving and permanent home. Intercountry Adoption provides such opportunities for a small number of children who otherwise might reside in institutions or orphanages.
Arc Adoption. Always Remember the Child.
At last something is happening!
