How intrusive did you find the whole process?

  1. The assessment was comprehensive rather than intrusive. The adoption process is about the needs of children not adults so the system needs to be robust to weed out people who are hoping to adopt for ‘unhealthy’ reasons. We had eitht home visist, six referees were interviewed, plus three neighbours, plus the usual checks.

  2. It was terrible: they kept trying to catch me as being a lesbian, because they just do not trust single people adopting.
It was 4 years ago, and not in Dublin! So I cannot tell today.
