What is your ‘shade of pink’? (Where in the LGBT community do you feel you fit?)

  1. We identify as being gay, we have done Pride for years and we don’t buy into heteronormative models of family, but that sets us apart, it doesn’t make us feel part of a community

  2. We’re both out to all that know us, family, friends, colleagues, etc. Do we feel part of an LGBT community? No. We don’t believe there is such a thing anymore. I did feel part of a community in the past, when I lived in Ireland and was involved in HIV activism and in Pride, but now I identify more with my neighbours (all straight to my knowledge) than with the ‘community.’ But we are closely involved in an LGBT adoptors group in the UK, for support for ourselves, and so our future kids will meet kids other kids with two dads and some with two mums. Contradictory? Yes, but that’s life

    1. Is that not a bit heteronormative: blend with the white-fenced white families and turn your child into an Oreo (black outside, white inside)?

[Edit by Admins: we want to point out how this comment assumes a number of racist prejudices]

      1. John, I have no idea what you’re on about, but I find the ‘oreo’ comment offensive.

        1. Not only is it offensive, it is outright racist, as the Admin pointed out.

(I am not the same John, obviously, I am part of the Admin team and we decided to leave the comment with an Admin note to reflect the prejudices that are out there.)

  3. I am a normal straight guy, with a wife and children.
The way God meant it to be.

  4. I am not a label, I am a person.

If we start getting ourselves in ghettos we are doomed: do you think transexuals should be allowed to adopt, when they are diagnosed wit a mental disorder?

    1. Any one shold be allowed to apply to adopt, regardless of their identity, whether they are approved is not up to you or me. Not sure where you got that prejudicial idea that transexuals are diagnosed with a mental disorder. Strange to reject lables and then lable a whole community as having a mental disorder.

  5. We are two women, we do not define ourselves in our sexuality.
    We are two mothers.
